Welcome to consumercide's Insurge page. Insurge is a talented Aussie band that has a nice tight and aggressive electronic sound, or as they describe it "pub techno". The music has good lashings of distorted guitar so it's a bit more grungy than anything generally considered to be techno (thankfully). Accompanying the music are lyrics to get you thinking, and perhaps even slap you about a little, especially if you're a "right-wing racist redneck". This tribute page is worth it just for their "Power to the Poison People" lyrics. Needless to say, we need more people in music like Insurge, willing to speak out and instill real political meaning into their music. Music is such a powerful medium, it was meant for politics, but so often it is drowned out by "Government Music" (see reference to this in lyrics by the Dead Kennedys). Check them out, and check the other writings that accompany their first album below. Please check out a recent interview with
them here.
